The manuscript for this little gem had gone unnoticed for nearly 160 years until April 20, 2011, when it was put up for sale online at Doyle Auction Galleries in New York City. Having been alerted to this sale by his good colleague at the University of Washington, Dr. George Bozarth, one of the world's leading Brahms scholars, Sheppard performed the Albumblatt as a surprise encore the following week at his all-Brahms recital on April 28th.

Seattle Piano Institute at the University of Washington's School of Music from July 8-21, 2012. This year will include two sessions: the first, for ages 16 and up; the second, for students up to the age of 15. Special guest artist, Christopher O'Riley,
popular host of the well-known NPR program, From the Top, will

liaison with Marie, La Comtesse d’Agoult, and their need to abscond from Paris in the wake of tremendous scandal.
